The Story of Ai's Garden
Mary Ai had always loved plants. As a child, she would spend hours exploring the gardens around her home in Kuching, Sarawak, East Malaysia, marveling at the incredible variety of flora and fauna that surrounded her.
But it wasn't until 2020, during the pandemic, that Mary decided to turn her passion for plants into a business. With so many people stuck at home and looking for ways to brighten up their spaces, Mary saw an opportunity to share her love of gardening with others.
She started by setting up an online plant sales business, offering a wide variety of houseplants, succulents, and pots that she carefully selected or grew herself. Her business quickly took off, with customers from all over Sarawak ordering from her website, AisGarden.com, and Facebook Marketplace (AisGarden) and raving about the quality of her plants and her service.
But Mary didn't stop there. She also decided to create her own garden, a space where she could experiment with new plants and showcase her favorites. She started small, with just a few pots, but as her business grew, so did her garden.
Over the months that followed, Mary transformed her small garden into a lush, thriving oasis. She added hanging baskets of pothos and sea shells, and Areca palms that sway in the breeze. And she didn't stop there. Mary also helped design and create a Gazebo and Garden Arch complete with trailing Rain of Thyrallis flowers and built an overhead Trellis for hanging even more beautiful baskets of plants. Stone paver walkways meander through her garden space.
Today, Mary's online plant sales business and garden are thriving. Her love of plants has not only brought her joy and fulfillment, but has also brought joy and beauty to countless others. And as she continues to grow and experiment with new plants and designs, Mary's garden remains a testament to the power of nature to heal and inspire us all.
